We employ several dogs here at Mountain View. We have 1 Maremma (pictured above), Hudson, who was our first LGD along with his sister. Unfortunately, this past summer we had to put her down due to health issues. We can't handle this boy as he was pretty wild when we got him but he has proven his value time and time again. Other then protecting the sheep, if we need to move them, he leads them where we show him, saving us time and the sheep stress. We have since acquired 2 Great Pyrenees puppies that are being mentored by Hudson.
Ramby was our first Border Collie. He was brought into the vet clinic (where I was employed) to be euthanized. He ended up at our place and though he had never seen a sheep before, he has turned out to be a great dog. We had never trained a BC before but through reading books and speaking to trainers we both learned a lot! He is now a crucial part to our operation and we have even had several offers from people to purchase him! Sadly we lost Ramby in the fall of 2016.
In 2011 we brought Roxy in from Alberta as a puppy. She was a fabulous dog and a great help to me. In the corrals she's pretty dependable but needs some more experience out in the field. She is much quicker than our other dog and we have to think fast with our commands!
We lost Roxy to an accident in the winter of 2016.

Our BC are working dogs but they're also pets. We vacation with them and they sleep in the porch. Our kids dress them up and play with them - temperament is important!
